Today my 77 comes from #LoveOzYA crime romance No Limits by Ellie Marney, an action-packed adventure ride of a book. The 77: “For a second I think he knows about Dad’s cancer and i’m struck dumb. Then it sinks in that he’s talking about the outstanding bills. Possibly the more pressing concern. If I don't do something about the bookie, there’ll be unwelcome knocks on the door. And if the tab here isn’t tidied up, dad will be a bear to live with for the next five months without his regular doses of beer and vodka.” Oh man how I hated Harris dad! I ordered these two before Christmas, and today they finally made their way to me 📚❤️ I was cracking up as I was looking at them next to each other. New year, same old Sarah overloading herself with a mammoth months TBR. Books I’m planning 🤞on reading in January: For the #AusYABloggers January’s New Beginnings Prompt I am planning on reading Dreadnought by April Daniels. For the #TBRtrim20 oldest I am planning on reading one of the first ever books I add to Goodreads when I started using the site in 2013, Shadows of the Realm by Dionne Lister. And for newest i’m doubling up on Dreadnought because I only recently purchased a copy of it - so it counts lol. I have four review books I need/want to get read; Enshrine by Kay Bennson, The Cursed Key by Miranda Brock & Rebecca Hamilton, Esme's Gift by Elizabeth Foster and Ghost Revelations by Aspen Black. You know that feeling that everything you touch turns to shit. Yeah that was the entirety of November/December 2019 for me. Health issues, myself and other family members. Friendships being tried and tested. Plus the extra financial, physical and emotional stresses of the silly season. And quite honestly I'm feeling that down and out, that i’m not sure how to dig my way out. I only managed to read one book at the start of December, one short story and two comic books - this is very little for me, I just haven’t had the motivation. I’m hoping the two reading challenges I'm a part of running in 2020 will at least drag me out of my reading funk, and maybe that will boost my spirits to try and tackle all the other shit. A positive is my oldest son has been trying to be extra good lately, and it feels like i’m starting to get back the adorable angel i had before his little brother was born and the jealousy monster turned him into an unbearable demon. Shane and I have had good luck with our veggie garden and have now built a greenhouse. Seeing new growth in plants always brings light to all the dark. We’re currently making plans to convert the double carport in the backyard to an entertaining area. Published June 4th 2019 by @text_publishing The 77: Sometime around midday, there’s movement in the yard and the sound of voices. Steps echo across the concrete floor, and our guard gets to his feet. Three people appear above us, two men and a woman. The woman doesn't wear a uniform and she has a band around her arm with a red cross on it. A mask covers her nose and mouth. She descends into the pit, looks at my eyes and puts her hand to my forehead. “How long have they been here?’’ she asks.
