2017 Challenges

aww2017-badgeI’m only setting myself a total goal of 60 books to be read for my Goodreads challenge in 2017, which will be half of what I’ve read this year, but with baby number two just arrived it is probably as much or more than I’ll be capable of.

The Australian Women Writers Challenge is all about promoting the wonderful works of our female Aussie authors.

I was going to set myself the goal of 12 AWW books for 2017, as that’s only one a month. But early in the year I think I might struggle to get even one book read a month. I really don’t know how I’m going to handle the two kiddlets and I’ll be returning to work earlier with Ethan than I did with Riley (we were renting the first time around, but we’re home ”owners” now and that costs quite a bit more per month – and there’ll be one more month to feed). So I decided to sign up to read 6 and any I read and review over that amount will be a bonus.

I have purchased a fair few #LoveOzYA books this year most of which are by lovely ladies I’ve seen speak, personally met or connected with online. #AWW2017 is an awesome reason to move them higher up my never-ending To Be Read list.

  1. Great that you can join the challenge again, Sarah, and congratulations on baby No. 2. You *will* have your hands full! Hope you manage some quality reading time along the way.

  2. Pity you didn’t live closer Sarah, I could take the munchkins off your hands for mummy reading time. I haven’t heard of this challenge, but I wouldn’t mind giving it a crack too. Apart from review copies, most of all my chosen reads this year will be Aussie YA.

I have a lot of ARC editions and double copies on my shelves, if you have a wanted list Sarah, message me on Facebook and I can send you some. It’ll save me lugging them down to the charity shops too.

    • Please excuse me for butting in here, divabooknerd, but we’d love to get more YA books on our AWW database of reviews. (Thanks for spreading the word, Sarah!)

    • I think it would be worth linking any Lady Oz YA reviews you do this year for sure 🙂 🙂 You can set your own amount of AWW books to read, as not to overload yourself. http://australianwomenwriters.com/sign-up/

I should totally just transfer you some money for postage and let you surprise me with any old ARC’s or doubles you’d think I’d like 🙂 I love surprises, especially the bookish kind :-).
